Why we photograph every plant

Every booking with Leaf It With Us starts the same way. The owner hands over their plants and a member of staff photographs each one before it goes on the bench.
It takes a minute or two. People ask why we bother.
For the owner, it ends the worrying
Leaving a plant you've kept alive for six years is harder than it sounds. A weekly photo (we ask nurseries for one at least every 7 days) turns “I hope it's fine” into “there it is, looking better than it did at home.”
For the nursery, it's evidence
Plants often arrive with small problems. Brown tips, a few yellow leaves, the start of a mealybug colony nobody noticed. If that isn't written down on day one, it becomes the nursery's fault on day thirty.
The check-in photo settles it. Staff can add a short note (“two brown leaf tips”) and the owner sees it straight away, before anything has happened in the nursery's care.
And when something does go wrong
If an owner reports a problem, the first thing we look at is the photos: in, during, out. Most questions answer themselves. When a plant really was harmed in the nursery's care, the photos show that too, and the owner gets their money back without an argument.
A guarantee only works if both sides trust how it's decided. Photos are how we decide.
